The Music of Fall
Not to be overshadowed by the baby girl excitement, I figured Nathan should get a post in here too! Than's parents visited this weekend and brought him an enormous pumpkin they grew in their garden. Added to the squash/pumpkin hybrids from my parents, we have quite a display in our front window!

Inspired by the live violinist at the Italian restaurant we went to on Saturday, I got Nathan's little 1/16 size violin out for him today. He was incredibly excited and played with it for an hour and a half! He didn't want to hold it, but preferred to have it laying on the floor while he sawed away with the bow. It is still too big for him, but he got some good sounds out of it, treated it fairly respectfully, and can tell you where the bow, the strings, the bow hairs, and the fine tuners are! He likes me to "talk about his lesson" and we did lots of singing too--he would chose a page in his folk song book and played away on the A string while I sang the song. A musical prodigy, I'm sure.
