Quote 38
"The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone else believes in him and is willing to trust him with his friendship." --Ralph Waldo Emerson
May you rejoice in the gift of friendship this Christmas--a spouse, a child, someone from church, work, or wherever. I am reminded that it is not only a gift to receive someone's trust, but to trust them in return rather than insisting on being independent or too self-reliant or private. Connection with other people is the only way for me to learn and practice the godly character that is hopefully being developed in me. Be a friend!
