Making Progress

A quick kiddo update for those adoring grandparents out there:

Katya has discovered that it is possible to sleep for 7 hours at night! Hooray! Perhaps someday we will actually get our full 8, and maybe we'll have quiet "kids are asleep so we have time together" time again before we retire!

I braved the grocery store for the first time by myself today. I've taken the two of them on plenty of other outings alone, but this was a milestone because Nathan doesn't fit in the cart with Katya, so he had to walk on his own the whole time. He was very upset at the idea initially, but behaved himself quite well once we got into the store. I was proud!
Nathan is very into letters and words at the moment. He loves to ask us for words that start with a certain letter, for which letter a certain word starts with, and how to spell a whole word. He can type his name on the computer and amuses himself while waiting in line sometimes by listing off the letters he sees on posters or magazines.
Katya is a great smiler now, especially just after her naps. She wakes up and gives a face-splitting grin when she sees you, as if she thinks you are the best person in the world. She often coos to go along with it and Nathan loves having "conversations" with her.
Nathan and Katya were both amazing kids this weekend, hanging out at church with Daddy while I cooked breakfast for the graduating senior high students and their parents. I am always so incredibly grateful when they choose to be extra good at the times I most need them to!
God is faithful to send me "you are such a wonderful child" moments just on the heels of "I can't handle one more minute of this behavior" moments, reminding me that He hasn't given me more than I can handle. He also reminds me that I am often a very difficult child myself, and His patience with me is endless. I am grateful.
