Extreme Makeover, Shaw-Baylor-Haldy Edition

Before
After a fabulous anniversary lunch at Wolfgang Puck's Spago restaurant in Beaver Creek, we traveled back to Denver. Our garage door didn't work, so Than got us indoors with his key and I was attempting to get Nathan settled when Than came into the room with a very serious face. He told me there was something I needed to check in the basement, so I headed down expecting to find a flood or some other disaster. Imagine my shock when I rounded the corner and instead saw my basement transformed into an amazing space with new floors, walls, ceiling, and furnishings. Then my mom, dad, brother, sister, and brother-in-law appeared from the office to delight in my suprise. I was nearly speechless at the change, and the suprise of seeing them all, realizing that they had done all the work while I was gone in Vail. My family had arrived in the middle of the night Tuesday and worked Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and half of Saturday. It was incredible what they accomplished in that short time. My ugly, rough-finished, gloomy basement had become a glowing new space with conversation areas, kid areas, and all new things. I still can't belive all the hours they spent planning and working to do so much in just 3 1/2 days. Nathan ran back and forth, discovering his toys which all seemed new to him in this new space. I kept seeing more and more special touches the longer I looked. The photos below don't do the renovation justice, so I reccommend skipping the photos and coming for a visit instead. If you can't visit, then click on the album. Check out the captions--I labeled things so you can share in the joy and excitement of this huge gift.
