Adventures in Shopping

In the interest of having fun with my sister, passing the time with our kids, and pursuing one of my goals (see goal #98 here) Kaye and I loaded the van with kiddos and checked out two interesting shopping spots.

The first was the Habitat for Humanity Home Improvement Warehouse. It is filled with a random assortment of furniture and home improvement items--everything from doors to grout to lightbulbs to pesticides (don't ask me why, but that was Nathan's favorite aisle!!) We weren't shopping for anything in particular, but it was fun to get an idea of what was there. Definitely the kind of store where you could save money if you had a list of what you wanted and were willing to look through stuff to find it.

On our way back home, we stopped at the Wilkerson's Produce Company.

Nathan fell in love with a particular red pepper which he carried all around the stand, and then lovingly cradled in his lap on the way home before eating it for lunch. Silly boy!

That visit reminded me of an interesting article I found here about the cost of pursuing the lowest price at the expense of family owned businesses. (Thanks to the Get Rich Slowly blog for highlighting the article for me). All in all, it was a fun outing that accomplished many purposes, and garnered some delicious pears for supper too!
