"A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don't necessarily want to go, but ought to be." --Rosalynn Carter

OK, I'm not sure what I think abou the Carter's politics, but I like this thought anyway. Today it hits me on the parenting level--do I parent with the goal of what my kids ought to be (what God wants them to be) or do I give in too often to where they want to go (temporary pleasures like computer games and candy!)? The greatness comes in when the leader is able to make people not only go where they ought, but even WANT to go where they ought instead of where they want. How often do I think about where I ought to be going, instead of just where I want to be going?
